The reported use of medicinal plants: Garuga floribunda (bogo),Trema orientalis L. (hanagdong), Macaranga tanarius (binunga), tinospora crispa (panyawan) and Ficus septic (lagnob) prompted the group of researchers from Central Mindanao University namely Dr. Luzviminda T. Simborio, Dr. Lorelei A. Samaniego, Mr. Dave Buenavista and Dr. Cecilia B. Amoroso to study the medicinal plants’ efficacy in treating swine and cattle diseases in some localities in Bukidnon through Morpho-Histochemical test and bioassay.

Nowadays, many agencies and institutions are implementing/conducting research as one of their mandates. Although, working in different fields, researchers are united in one purpose-- to bridge the gaps through research.

In order to promote best researches in Northern Mindanao, the NOMCARRD as a consortium of 20-member agencies coordinates regional research, development and extension priorities to support regional development for a productive, competitive and sustainable Science and Technology-based (S&T) Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources (AFNR) and Fishery sector.

Lantapan Municipal Packaging and Bagsakan Center Launched PDF Print E-mail

The municipality of Lantapan is known as the Vegetable Basket of Bukidnon. Its good climatic condition enable varieties of vegetables namely cabbage, lettuce, tomato, broccoli and carrots grow and flourish.

The perceived potential of the area prompted the Local Government Unit of Lantapan in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), Central Mindanao University (CMU), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Philippine Council for Agriculture and Resources Research and  Development—Department of Science and Technology (PCARRD-DOST) to pursue and put up a Municipal Packaging and Bagsakan Center (MPBC) project. Consequently, the Bagsakan Center was launched on June 16, 2011 at Poblacion, Lantapan, Bukidnon.
